Ibstock is a large Village and civil parish in North West Leicestershire, England, with a population of around 6,000. It is on the A447, nearby places are Coalville, Heather, Ellistown, Ravenstone, Hugglescote & Donington le Heath. The name Ibstock could be a derivative of Ibestoche meaning the dairy farm of Ibba [Ibba is an Anglo-Saxon name also found in other place-names]. It could also have originated from a man called Ibba who was said to have a stockade here during the Civil wars. This is more commonly acknowledged amongst residents.
